Pre-existences and conditions

• the project area is a part of a socialist industrial building from the 80's
• the room has an irregular shape without any order or hierarchy; same problem on the façade
• it is in bad stage of preservation, almost abandoned

Concept and solution

• to signal the entrance, a 'portal' with a funnel shape and strong colour will attract people to enter
• inside, the portal transforms into a central vestibule with reception and meeting point
• this room serves as distribution space from where all other areas are accessible
• all functions are distributed around the central space with simple regular partitions
• new skylights are open to bring natural light to all rooms
