Pre-existences and conditions

• not used courtyard of an historic building
• a single tree standing
• client´s wish to build a new attachment taking part of the courtyard

Concept and solution

• proposal to cover all the courtyard instead of a part to avoid leaving residual useless space
• green accessible roof can be used as part of the playground for the kids; it compensates the area taken
• the surface is curved to avoid stairs; like a natural landscape
• small glass patios keep the existing tree and bring natural light and ventilation to all the rooms below
